Following searches carried out by the National Anti‑Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the State Audit Service (SAP), Sergei Kropiva, deputy head of the Department of International Cooperation of the Prosecutor General's Office, was detained. The investigation alleges he may have been involved in "roofing" a network of fraudulent call centres and legalising their proceeds.

Initial reports mentioned searches at Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko’s office, which the OGP later denied. On 6 September, the High Anti‑Corruption Court placed Kropiva under custody with a bail alternative of 120 million UAH.
