Budapest declined to approve the opening of the second and third negotiation clusters on Ukraine’s EU accession. According to Euractiv, Hungary insists that Kyiv must first fulfil the agreements on the rights of the ethnic Hungarian minority.
Because of Budapest’s stance, further progress of the talks is now in doubt. Hungary continues to tie its support for Ukraine’s Euro‑integration to the resolution of the Hungarian minority’s rights issue.
