Within a week Czechia denied temporary protection to dozens of Ukrainian conscripts after a new EU rule came into force. Applicants were unable to confirm that they had fulfilled military service in Ukraine.
The rule also applies to those who merely renewed an existing status. Germany has not yet introduced a similar ban, but pressure on Ukrainian men of conscription age across Europe is increasing.
