Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky returned the Order of the White Eagle to Polish activist Nawrocki by mail on June 20.

Earlier, Nawrocki had stripped Zelensky of the order due to a Ukrainian military unit being named after the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA).

This move by Nawrocki sparked widespread public resonance in Ukraine and Poland. Ukrainian authorities emphasized that the UPA played a significant role in Ukraine's fight for independence.

By returning the order, Zelensky, according to experts, made a symbolic step, highlighting the importance of historical memory and respect for national heroes.
